A Sarasota resident since 1992, Rob comes to SYS with a background as a professional yacht delivery captain logging more than 70,000 nautical miles throughout the Eastern and Western Caribbean, Central America and the US. Growing up in southwest Michigan, Rob's love for boats and the water developed at a very young age. His father was a charter captain and Rob grew up spending nearly every summer weekend on the waters and beaches of Lake Michigan with his family.
Moving to Florida to pursue a career in the visual arts, Rob graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design and enjoyed a successful career in the advertising world as a Creative Director for several of the area's leading advertising agencies. In 2003 however, he left the advertising world for the open water.
Since then he has maintained a career as a professional captain, currently holding a USCG Master 200 Ton License, providing yacht delivery, instruction and captain services on a wide variety of brokerage and private vessels from 40 to over 100' in length. Rob brings his knowledge, experience and passion for boats and travel to SYS and their clients across the country in hopes of helping them discover and achieve their own boating dreams.

For the sea trial, Rob ensured that all bases were covered including retaining the surveyor. He then, spent many more hours in ensuring that all of the items on our check of list of To Do’s from the seller where completed in a satisfactory manner. After the purchase, certain items materialized which were not identified at time of sea trial but which warranted concern. Accordingly, Rob got back on the phone and was relentless with the seller's broker to ensure that the seller properly address the matter, which they did! This is what I call integrity. Rob went the extra mile to ensure that he'd have a satisfied client. For this, I'm deeply grateful. "
