Andy grew up on Key Biscayne, an island off the coast of Miami where he developed an innate passion for fishing, diving and boating on Biscayne Bay and the Florida Keys.
After completing his studies at Canton Zürcher Oberland near Zurich, Switzerland and USF in Tampa, Andy fished professionally in the Gulf of Mexico for several years before joining the local Chris Craft dealer in Pinellas Park, FL as a sales representative. From there, he was recruited by upper management at Chris Craft to work with the company. He initially joined as Sales Coordinator for the company’s Bradenton, FL facility where they built fishboats, sportboats and high performance offshore models which included the infamous “Jesse James” offshore racing CAT. He implemented a streamlined scheduling and distribution strategy that significantly reduced factory inventories and increased production efficiencies, and later on was appointed as the Production Control Manager.
He worked closely with the international division and assisted in managing sales and communications with all of the company’s dealers in the Asia, Europe, the South Pacific, South and Central America regions. After three years at Plant 18 as it was referred to in those days, he moved into the Corporate office where he was promoted to National Sales Coordinator. In this capacity Andy was responsible for scheduling and coordinated the production and delivery for all five Chris Craft manufacturing plants worldwide. From there, Andy was promoted to the District Sales Manager for the Southeast US where his responsibilities included but were not limited to managing sales and marketing and training sales staffs for the company retail dealerships.
After leaving Chris Craft in 1990, Andy has since worked for and managed sales departments in some of the largest and most respected recreational marine dealerships in the US. He has sold some of the finest and highest quality lines and was awarded Top Worldwide Sales Representative on three occasions for two lines. He and his wife Joanne have owned and operated a successful yacht brokerage and consulting operations on Florida’s West and East Coasts. In the early 2000’s he worked exclusively with some of the largest marine lenders in the world assisting and providing them with the care, custody and control and re-marketing of their marine assets. Andy has sold and shipped all sizes of recreational vessels to every continent in the world with the only exception being Antarctica.
Andy’s love and fascination for fishing, diving and boating has been passed down two generations to his grandsons. “The fishing trips with my son Mike and his sons Chris and Kyle are among my most precious memories.” “I’m proud that they have followed in this tradition and share the same enjoyment and passion in inshore and offshore angling, and diving as I have had my entire life.” They are accomplished and very good anglers to say the least.
Andy had the privilege and honor to serve on the Board of Directors of the Florida Yacht Brokers Association (currently the International Yacht Brokers Association (IYBA)) for 3 years in the early to mid 2000’s. This association is the largest in the world and located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In addition, Andy is a licensed United States Coast Guard 100 Ton Master.
