About Rob

A Sarasota resident since 1992, Rob comes to SYS with a background as a professional yacht delivery captain logging more than 70,000 nautical miles throughout the Eastern and Western Caribbean, Central America and the US. Growing up in southwest Michigan, Rob's love for boats and the water developed at a very young age. His father was a charter captain and Rob grew up spending nearly every summer weekend on the waters and beaches of Lake Michigan with his family.

Moving to Florida to pursue a career in the visual arts, Rob graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design and enjoyed a successful career in the advertising world as a Creative Director for several of the area's leading advertising agencies. In 2003 however, he left the advertising world for the open water.

Since then he has maintained a career as a professional captain, currently holding a USCG Master 200 Ton License, providing yacht delivery, instruction and captain services on a wide variety of brokerage and private vessels from 40 to over 100' in length. Rob brings his knowledge, experience and passion for boats and travel to SYS and their clients across the country in hopes of helping them discover and achieve their own boating dreams.
