Hatteras 56' 56 Motor Yacht
The continuing attraction of the Hatteras 56 Motor Yacht, aside from her rugged construction and traditional profile, is her spacious and very comfortable interior. Built on a beamy modified-V hull with a deep keel, the 56 was considered a very luxurious yacht in an era when Hatteras practically owned the market for big motor yachts. Her three stateroom floor plan is arranged with the galley down and split engine rooms flank the corridor leading aft to the master stateroom. The wheelhouse is completely open to the salon, providing good fore and aft views from the lower helm position. Outside, the semi-enclosed aft deck is large enough for serious entertaining activities, something not always true with modern motor yachts. Wing doors open to the side decks and the huge flybridge has space for a dinghy as well as seating for a small crowd. Bridge overhangs partially shelter the side decks and the molded bench seating is found on the foredeck. With standard Detroit 8V92TIs, the 56 motor yacht will cruise at 15-16 knots and reach 18 knots top.
