Painter is a 1987 41-foot Hershine sundeck trawler. She has been well cared for with many recent improvements making her a good boat for a couple to comfortably live aboard and cruise local waters, the Intracoastal Waterway, the Great Loop, or the Bahamas. Her current owners bought her from her original owner in 2006. The original owner was an engineer who meticulously cared for her inside and out. The current owner has continued to maintain and upgrade the boat, keeping it in good condition.
Painter has travelled back and forth on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway from the Chesapeake to Florida nine times before coming to Florida to stay in 2015. Over the years they wintered in Titusville, Stuart, Fort Lauderdale, Marathon, Palmetto and the Bahamas.
She is powered by a single 135 HP Ford Lehman diesel engine that has an excellent reputation for durability and is easy to maintain. She can be maneuvered with ease without it, but is equipped with a Volvo bow thruster if assistance is needed.
The boat is well-equipped for extended periods at anchor. She has two very substantial anchors that are easily handled with the Lewmar Electric windlass with remote control. Her solar panels and propane cooking system minimize the use of the generator when away from the dock, a benefit both to yourself and your neighbors in a quiet anchorage.
