This 2006 54' Grand Banks Eastbay SX M/Y "STARDUST" is arguably the most highly upgraded and best maintained yacht of the Grand Banks 54 Eastbay SX fleet to date. The current owners took a very nice yacht and then spent another year of refit she was relaunched mid April 2019 as a complete remodel/refit. She was refit to the discriminating standards of a very experienced yachtsman who is an Ocean Engineer; their objective was to vastly improve on the Grand Banks Standard interior, implementing wonderful design improvements and features. This owner happened to previously own a sister ship of the same year and learned first-hand what would make these boats significantly better. Many thoughtful improvements enhance the accommodations, entertainment systems, cooking capability, self-sufficiency, navigation, safety and comfort of the vessel. This particular Grand Banks is a true collector’s item with the down east lines and the high quality equipment and features not known in this model. The boat is very stable at cruise speeds and is a joy to dock with dual engines bow and stern thrusters and a hand-held wireless remote Docking Master which allows single handed docking operations.
M/V STARDUST is the only Grand Banks 54 outfitted with low engine hours 660HP Cummins Diesels. Don’t let the lower horsepower fool you as the speed performance is approximately the same but the fuel consumption is dramatically lower than higher horse power Caterpillar engines.
The owner, having previously owned the same boat, same year but with the thirstier 800Hp Cat Diesels has produced impressive performance data showing comparisons of RPM, Speed and Fuel Consumption. For example, Cummins Engines at 2,000 RPM gave a significantly reduced fuel consumption of 43.8 GPH compared to the larger horsepower CAT engines at the same RPM, has a fuel consumption of 70 GPH. Similar fuel savings at all speeds is shown and available upon request. Bottom line is pretty much same speed performance and huge difference in fuel consumption.
M/V STARDUST has added ballast in several key locations which helps to balance out the boat and keep the bow in a proper running angle and offset the weight of the generator in the engine room which helps improve performance and stability.
The interior was reworked to greatly improve the Master Bed size and to add 2 Dual Stidd seats at the helm, much larger and more comfortable settee in the Salon, New Granite counters in the Galley and 2 full heads with separate shower, Tiled walls in the galley and tile floors in the showers enhance the luxury of this vessel. A stainless steel fixed frame cantilevered shade for the cockpit has been added as well thoughtful additions like a folding transom seat and other cockpit seating that has bright Sunbrella Dulce Oasis covered cushions. A clever acrylic dashboard was added to accommodate the large touch screen Garmin electronics, a new Garmin Radar as well as many other electronic enhancements.
The owner has decided to move to a much larger yacht which presents a golden opportunity for someone to reap the rewards of his endeavors.
