Herbert Woods 55' 9'' 56ft Classic Yawl
ROB ROY is a 56-foot classic yawl with transoceanic capabilities, designed by the famed naval architect Arthur Robb and built by Herbert Wood Ltd in 1956. She perfectly embodies Robb’s signature style—balanced hull lines with a full bow tapering to a lean aft section, a low trunk cabin, and a charming doghouse in varnished teak. With her Honduras mahogany planking over Canadian rock elm frames and Monel fittings, ROB ROY is a tribute to craftsmanship and enduring elegance.
Her racing pedigree is as impressive as her design. ROB ROY was once flagship of the Knickerbocker Yacht Club and participated in iconic regattas such as Antigua Race Week, the Newport–Bermuda Race, and “match races” against STORMY WEATHER in the 1980s. She has crossed the Atlantic, cruised the Baltic and Aegean, and since 2018, actively sails and races in the Western Mediterranean. Recent updates include a new main mast (2020), new engine (2023), and hull restoration in 2025.
Accommodating 6 to 8 guests, her interior is a warm blend of off-white paneling and classic teak joinery. She features a traditional saloon with green upholstery, multiple berths, a galley with modern amenities, and two separate cabins. ROB ROY offers the rare opportunity to own a living piece of yachting history—ideal for passionate sailors and vintage yacht connoisseurs alike.
